No 2 gyms are created equal. And quite frankly, we love it that way. As someone looking for a new gym you should too! It can be tough to sort through all of the options though.
We wanted to help you a little bit on your search.
Convenience cannot be ignored. If you are someone looking to develop a new routine your best bet is probably one of the closest gyms to either your home or your work. Getting to the gym is a commitment in itself. If the gym is further than 15 minutes or so that commute might just become an easy excuse in a couple weeks.
Are you looking for access to equipment or are you looking for guidance? If it’s access to workout equipment we would recommend going to the closest 24 hour facility. If you have a 24 hour facility then you can immediately eliminate a potential excuse. The “I don’t have time” excuse.
Are you looking for professional guidance? This guidance can come in the form of Personal Training and/or small group classes led by a professional coach. There should be a big difference between personal training and these small group classes.
Personal Training vs. Small Group Class
We at Pick It Up Fitness believe that both are necessary. We also believe there is a big difference between the two!
Which one is right for you depends largely on your prior experience and your goals.
A small group class will help you meet more like minded people and help you become more fit. It will take a little longer than Personal Training though.
A small group class is general fitness, your goal of wanting to squat X amount of pounds will not happen as quickly as it would by following a program written for you and tailored towards that goal.
Personal Training should not look like a small group class of 1. You’ve probably heard that from us before. Personal Training begins with assessments that will help determine the proper course of action for YOU.
Your Next Step
The search can begin with either a google search or a text to a friend. If you have a friend that loves their gym ask them what it is that they love about it. If not, open up google and search “gyms near me.”
